CAREERS AT LITEBOXER

JUNIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Location: Boston, MA

To build boxing hardware platforms that can deliver an outstanding experience to user customers punch after punch, we need mechanical engineers who sweat the details. A holistic approach is taken to building the robust hardware that combines boxing and gaming, where ideas are quickly prototyped, thoroughly tested, and meticulously optimized for mass production. As a small team, we are responsible for all aspects of designing our hardware and getting it made—within and outside of traditional engineering—and we work closely with the industrial design and product teams.

In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in helping develop the next generation of Liteboxer products, as well as improving and innovating on our current line of products. As a junior mechanical engineer you are:
  1. Comfortable working in parametric CAD, such as Onshape or Solidworks (we use Onshape)
  2. Enthusiastic about user-centered product design
  3. Curious about how things work and how to make things better
  4. A thorough tester and documenter, meticulous about crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s
  5. Effective at balancing proactive independent work and team collaboration
  6. Hands-on and able to work effectively and creatively in a small shop with limited tools

Some experience with fabrication techniques, including sheet metal, injection molding, machining, and metal extrusions is preferred. These skills include DFMA, drawing creation, communicating with suppliers, and incorporating their feedback.

Candidates are encouraged to submit a portfolio or previous work as it relates to this position. It does not need to be fancy and should not be wordy. A simple slide deck of pictures and diagrams with annotations will suffice. Good portfolios and resumes demonstrate how what you worked on was difficult or innovative and clearly highlights individual contributions with group efforts. A short cover letter helps to contextualize your work and to fill in the gaps on a resume.

Note that this position is not remote and is based out of Boston, MA, near the Sullivan Square MBTA station. Mechanical engineering for product design is a hands-on discipline and your hands are needed to build and test our designs.

At Liteboxer we believe in the positive impact of our platform. We are a group of movers and shakers. We are not afraid to get our hands dirty in order to bring this immersive experience to the world. We treat each other well and share honest feedback. We recognize that we have a lot to learn, and we encourage each other with infectious energy to keep going as we strive to build something the market has never seen before. Diversity & inclusion are at the forefront of what we are building, and we won’t settle for anything less than equity within our brand.
