CHRISTINA

Christina is a professional MMA fighter. A trainer and coach for UFC Gym in San Diego as well as part of the Litesport team.

With a background in Muay Thai, Christina is an explosive, athletic and a hard hitter. She is also a purple belt in Brazilian jujitsu.

The one thing she is most proud of is her son who looks up to her every single day.

What sets her apart from other trainers is that she started from the ground up. She didn’t have any doors open already for her, she had to open them all herself and work 10 times harder to get noticed. She still carries the same work ethic with her every day.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM CHRISTINA’S CLASSES:

Ready to train like a fighter? Christina breaks it all down so you’re ready to step into the ring with proper form and execution. Throughout her classes, she reviews how to get into your boxer’s stance, breaks down every punch and defensive move, and walks you through safe form for your squat, lunge, and plank.

“If you’re not willing to risk the unusual, you’ll have to settle for ordinary.”

Meet Christina

How did you get into boxing?

Many years ago I attended an MMA fight in Tijuana Mexico, at that time I was pregnant with my son and so I was intrigued by the sport while sitting in the audience. At that moment I said out loud, “I can totally see myself doing this.” My significant other did not feel the same and said, “yeah right I could never picture you stepping in the cage and doing this,” with a very sarcastic laugh. Fast forward to two weeks later after giving birth to my son, I went to practice for MMA. One night they were short a person and needed an extra person to spar one of their current fighters. I said what the hell, I’ll do it! I got hit in the my face, swung back and learned that I had a newfound love for the sport. Three months later after that first sparring match, I stepped into the cage and had my first fight.

How do you approach risk and risk-taking?

“If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.” This quote sets true and deep for me. I never wanted to settle for “ordinary”, so I always push myself to overcome fear and failure for not succeeding and taking multiple risk in my life.

What are some of your career highlights?

I was the first woman (along with my opponent) to be signed and have a sanctioned MMA fight in Tijuana Mexico. I made the Ultimate Fighter Season 26, along with 15 other ladies which upened up the 125 division for UFC. I fought on pay-per-view in a bare-knuckle fight, going against a 16 year vet in boxing and won in the second round. I fought for UFC, Invicta, King of the Cage.
