Celebrate Black History Month with Litesport

February is Black History Month and to celebrate, we’re launching new content and re-releasing some old favorites all month long. Every week this month, look out for brand-new Punch Tracks, along with re-released Mitt Drills, and Total Body workouts that put black artists, music, and trainers front and center.

With these releases, you can join us in honoring the lives and legacy of influential artists who helped pave the path for a lot of the music we listen to today. It’s a celebration of funk, Motown, R&B, soul, pop, and rap by artists who inspire and empower us.

Ready to glove up and join us in the ring? Here’s what to look out for this month:

Black History Month Trainer Classes

Join Trainers GW and Aliyah as they lead you through Total Body or Mitt Drill workouts in honor of Black History Month. You’ll sweat, laugh, and tell stories together as you work out with artists near and dear to Aliyah and GW’s hearts.

Get ready to master your punches and sweat it out to the beat of tracks from Kool & The Gang, The Marvelettes, The Isley Brothers, The Temptations, Salt-N-Pepa, Mary Wells, DMX, Eve, Lil Wayne, and more—artists spanning several decades whose music continues to inspire and motivate us today.

Throughout each Mitt Drill or Total Body workout, GW and Aliyah will share stories about the songs that influenced them the most. Like how Aliyah has memorized every word of Lil Wayne’s “A Milli”. Or how she remembers her uncle and older brother blasting the Ruff Ryders’ Anthem as they boxed in their garage.

Back then, Aliyah was told to “play with her dolls”. But today, Aliyah and GW are teaching you how to show up for yourself in the ring as you squat, march, slip, roll, jab, cross, and rack up points on the speed bag. It’ll be hard not to move to the music as you go as fast and as hard as you can in these power-packed workouts.

Here are the re-release dates of our popular Black History Month-themed classes going live again this month:

  • Feb 14th: 4 Song Total Body: Black History Month Edition with Aliyah

  • Feb 17th: 4 Song Mitt Drill: Black History Month Edition with Aliyah

  • Feb 21st: 4 Song Total Body: Black History Month Edition with GW

  • Feb 24th: 4 Song Mitt Drill: Black History Month Edition with GW

Brand-New Punch Tracks

We’re also releasing a new Punch Track every Monday this month featuring a celebrated black artist — each from a different decade! First up we’ve got a 2014 Grammy-winning track from rapper Kendrick Lamar’s third studio album, "To Pimp a Butterfly." We’ve also got the 90s covered with a track from influential hip-hop duo Gang Starr, known for their traditional elements of hip-hop such as lyricism, DJing, and sampling. Then we’ll head back in time to 1975 for a funk and R&B song by the Ohio Players that became their most popular song, reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

  • Feb 5: "i" by Kendrick Lamar

  • Feb 12: "Check The Technique" by Gang Starr

  • Feb 19: "Love Rollercoaster" by Ohio Players

  • Feb 26: To be announced!

Join the celebration by tagging us in your videos as you work out to the beat of these influential artists and brand-new tracks. And don’t forget to join us on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and our blog for even more release updates and announcements, plus interviews with Trainers GW and Aliyah on what Black History Month means to them.
